There’s a buzz and level of excitement for the new Wii video game Disney Epic Mickey I haven’t seen since Pac Man Fever. Did I totally date myself with that reference? People were clambering to get a sneak peek at the game before it was released at the Festival of the Masters. Our conversation with Epic Mickey creative director Warren Spector set a DIS Unplugged record for comments on a blog. The game was launched Nov 30th at an event at the Times Square Disney Store complete with Dancing with the Stars champion Jennifer Grey, her co-competitor Kyle Massey, and a rare appearance by Steamboat Willie himself. However, even though Epic Mickey has launched, we at the DIS Unplugged are not through giving away prizes. I’m excited for everything Disney this week. Epic Mickey looks super-cool, I’m helping a friend with her dining schedule for her WDW trip in March, AND we just booked our trip for August2011 which will be DD2’s first trip. The big kids are soooo excited!

I ran out and bought a copy of the game after reading the interview with the creator of Epic Mickey.
One exciting aspect of Epic Mickey is making a decision to help or not help a character in the game and then realizing the impact of that decision. Will the decision help gameplay or make it more challenging? I look forward to finding out. And the paintbrush controller is a great bonus! My family really hopes this is can be a Christmas gift!
Epic Mickey is definitely on my Christmas list! 🙂 We looked for it last night at Costco, but it was sold out. Maybe we’ll have better luck this weekend!

We saw the making of the game in the previews before Harry Potter the other night, it looks so great!! we share our Wii between our condo and my mom’s house because we cant afford 2 systems…but this would be so fun to all play together as a family!! I am a constant and loyal reader, but this is the first time I have commented because come on now who wouldnt love to have this game or a disney gift card 🙂 We would be booking a new trip to WDW and playing this game while we counted down the days haha

I’m really excited about this game. I think it’s awesome that they’re doing a game that’s based on all Disney characters, and not just another Disney movie. Also, I got a chance to play it…and I have to say I really am impressed with the way that the individual decisions you make really affect your gameplay later on in the game. I think it’s a really different way to approach a video game.

I didn’t know if I should get this game for my kids or not, but after reading this I think I’m going to pick it up. My oldest (16) loved Kingdom Hearts, but he’s since moved onto XBox games. Who doesn’t like Mickey?

I think this game looks really cool, which is a rare comment from someone who rarely ever plays video games. We do own a Wii, but we only have the Wii Sports disc that it came with. I think all the “Wasteland” attractions would be really cool to see! Also, it wouldn’t hurt to have a $350 gift card for next year’s trip…more money I could put aside for a car!
