Heroes and Villains come to the Magic Kingdom parking lot

Today Walt Disney World debuted a dual parking lot operation at Magic Kingdom.  They added a second tram loading and unloading area at the Ticket and Transportation Center.  The two new areas are the Heroes and Villains. The Heroes parking lots will be Woody, Aladdin, Peter Pan, Simba, Mulan and Rapunzel.  The Villains will include Zurg, Jafar, Hook, Scar, Cruella and Ursula.

When it is time to leave you can tell where the tram is going by the plaque on the front.  It will either have a V for Villains or H for Heroes.  There are big signs indicating the loading area for each area.  This is designed to get you back to your car faster at the end of the day.

If you follow all the little details like I do you will see they have added signals to the bridge indicating the lanes where the trams go.  When leaving the Ticket and Transportation Center they will leave on the left.  Once they go through the tunnel they will either turn left or right depending on the areas the tram is going.

So be sure to note the area and the name of the lot and the row you are parked in.  Write it down, commit to memory, phone a friend, take a picture of your row so you don’t forget where you parked at the end of the evening!  However, if you do forget, you can ask a cast member.  They will ask about what time you parked and can tell you the approximate area where you parked.  If you have experienced the newly named parking lots, what did you think?

I was surprised when we went to Magic Kingdom on Sunday and saw the parking changes (after going there two weeks ago!). At first I thought they did that because of MNSSHP but everything looked so permanent. I can see how it will be more useful at the end of the day… but there is still confusion with the tram announcer having to speak about the lots at least 5 or 6 times and people getting on and off before going to the parking lot. Well… like other things in life… we all have to adapt to changes! 🙂
