The DIS Unplugged Podcast is offering three special Adventures by Disney Backstage Magic trips to California in February, April, and July 2011. As part of the adventure, guests will have the opportunity to meet Disney Imagineering Legend Marty Sklar who worked side-by-side with Walt Disney from the opening day of Disneyland until Disney’s passing in 1966. When Marty Sklar retired, he was Executive Vice President and Ambassador for Walt Disney Imagineering, and was the only Cast Member who participated in the opening of every Disney Theme Park. The opportunity to have lunch with Marty Sklar is exclusive to the three Backstage Magic trips offered through Dreams Unlimited Travel and the DIS Unplugged Podcast. You will travel exclusively with members of the DIS Unplugged Podcast Team, fellow listeners, and your two Adventures by Disney Guides. Marty Sklar has agreed to join each group for lunch one day during the trip for an informal conversation about his career, Walt Disney, the Disney Parks and Resorts, and any other questions people care to ask. In addition, each participant will receive a copy of the book “A Brush With Disney: An Artist’s Journey”. This book contains the artwork of fellow Disney Legend Herb Ryman, and includes forwards by Marty Sklar, Roy E. Disney, Harrison “Buzz” Price, Andrea Favilli (Principal Favilli Studio), and Lucille Ryman Carroll (Herb Ryman’s sister). Each book will be personally inscribed and autographed by Marty Sklar.
This “once in a lifetime” trip (or thrice in a lifetime if you are Pete Werner) can only be booked through Dreams Unlimited Travel. This appearance of Marty Sklar is exclusive to the three Backstage Magic trips offered through Dreams Unlimited Travel and the DIS Unplugged podcast. His appearance is not part of a regular Adventures by Disney Backstage Magic itinerary, will take place during designated ‘free time’ in the schedule, and all costs associated with this experience are paid for by Dreams Unlimited Travel, Inc.
