Dive-In to the Hollywood Drive-In Miniature Golf at Universal’s CityWalk

It’s time to remember when.  Let’s take a journey back to the 1950s; specifically, the sci-fi era when alien movies and scary haunted ghost stories were part of the silver screen. Universal Orlando has brought this era back to life in the form of two elaborate, well-themed miniature golf courses.  Get your alien ray gun, Ghostbusters proton backpack, and continue through the page break as we putt our way through Universal’s creation of two scary movie themes.

A cemetery, a giant spider, an enormous alien robot, a giant space worm, and a towering haunted house are all part of two 18-hole miniature golf courses located at Universal’s CityWalk.  “The Haunting of Ghostly Greens” and “Invaders from Planet Putt” are two elaborately themed, state of the art miniature golf courses Universal recently opened to add to the already impressive line-up of entertainment options at CityWalk.

What makes these two courses unique is the neon edge lighting along each hole.  Also, you’ll find some of the most creative miniature golf holes anywhere.  Your golf ball takes trips through spooky lab scenes, space aliens, and haunted houses.  Also predominant throughout the course is the music and sounds coming from the over 30 high-def speakers.  You’ll hear music like Monster Mash and scary ghost sounds as you make your way through to the end.  These courses are visually stunning, especially at night when the neon lighting shines through the midnight darkness.  It’s best to play the Hollywood Drive-In Golf at night as the courses transform from a daytime delight to a haunted, spooky, and invaded creation in the evening.

Playing these two miniature golf courses is an experience.  It’s important to take your time and enjoy each hole, the props, and scenery around you.  The cost to play 18-holes is $13.99 for adults and $11.99 for children ages 3-9 plus tax.  If you decide to do a “Double Feature” (play both courses) the cost is $24.98 for adults and $20.98 for children ages 3-9.  If you are a preferred annual passholder you’ll receive a 10% discount.  If you are a premier annual passholder you’ll receive a 15% discount.  The courses are open from 9:00AM until 2:00AM daily giving guests the flexibility to play anytime throughout the day or evening.

These are the two of the best miniature golf courses our family has ever played.  This is not an inexpensive experience, but it’s obvious a lot of time, effort, creation, and imagination went into designing and building these two courses.  They are a great addition to the CityWalk landscape and entertainment offerings.  I’m not saying you should go out of your way to play these miniature golf courses, but if you are visiting or staying at Universal Orlando playing these courses should be high on your list of activities to enjoy at the theme park resort.
