A Hidden Mickey Discovery at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

One of our family’s favorite activities is to hunt for hidden Mickeys.  We recently did a hidden Mickey hunt at Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Jambo House back in June.  We did this same hidden Mickey hunt back In October as part of a Power of 10 – Give Kids the World Grand Villa fundraiser.  Discovering hidden Mickeys is a lot of fun, especially with family and friends.  Recently, another very large hidden Mickey was discovered over at the Animal Kingdom Theme Park.  To see this amazing discovery continue through the page break.

Disney Imagineers are always looking for ways to incorporate hidden Mickeys into new attractions or venues.  A couple of Disney fans, blm07 and Empress Lilly, recently posted a very large hidden Mickey as part of Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s premier attraction.  It could very well be the largest hidden Mickey on Disney World property.  Check out this aerial view of Expedition Everest from above, courtesy of Google Earth.  As you can plainly see the Expedition Everest structure along with its track make-up a near perfect hidden Mickey.

This may not be a brand new hidden Mickey discovery and some of you may have already known it existed, but I’m guessing very few of you knew about it.

If this huge hidden Mickey discovery wasn’t enough these same Disney park fans discovered something else that was even more amazing.  Check out an expanded aerial view of Expedition Everest with its additional track at the top of the picture.  Has anyone ever seen a hidden Oswald the Lucky Rabbit before?  I know I haven’t.  You can learn more about Oswald the Lucky Rabbit here.

It’s safe to say the Expedition Everest hidden Mickey was probably intended and incorporated by Disney Imagineers.  However, what’s unclear is whether or not the hidden Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was intended by Imagineers or was included by accident and coincidence.

What do you think?  Was this done by accident or intended by the Disney Imagineers?  Either way I found this discovery to be very cool and I personally believe this was Disney Imagineering trying to incorporate Disney’s rich history into one of its premier E-Ticket attractions.

Do you have a favorite hidden Mickey to share?  We’d love to hear where you’ve found yours.  With so many hidden Mickey’s on Disney property I’m sure you have a favorite.

From all of us at the DIS and DISUnplugged we’d like to wish you and your family a very Happy New Year!

I wonder if this is larger than the HM on the infield of the WDW raceway.

The largest hidden Mickey on property is in the central courtyard at Hollywood Studios (however, it’s been slowly covered up over the years). The very largest hidden Mickey is a few miles northwest of the Magic Kingdom and just east of Hwy 27 and Lake Louisa.

There is also one in the attraction itself, when you wait line you go through a Museum and right across from where they tell you about a lost expedition, look at the railing because at the start of the railing after you make a turn in line theres a hidden Mickey
