Disney recently confirmed the title characters from the extremely popular Disney Channel show Phineas & Ferb will be on hand to meet guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios beginning in May 2011. Fans of the TV show have long wondered when the characters would start appearing in the parks, and the timing coincides with the release of the Disney Channel Original Movie this summer titled “Phineas and Ferb: Across the Second Dimension.” Continue after the break for more details.

Disneyland correspondent Nancy Johnson first reported the appearance of the characters, extremely popular with young boys, at the 2009 Christmas Day Parade taped at Disneyland – fueling speculation that walk-around characters signing autographs in the parks couldn’t be far behind. In October 2010, the boys were spotted for the first time at Walt Disney World in Downtown Disney’s “Once Upon a Toy” to open the new Wonderful World of Gaming Section of the store.

On February 8, buried deep in a press release announcing details of the summer 2011 season, Disney confirmed a new meet and play experience with Phineas & Ferb would open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in May. The press release specifically mentioned that characters would sign autographs and pose for pictures with guests. The meet and greet area will be in the Streets of America area near the exit to Muppet Vision 3D – an area currently used as a character greeting area for Lightning McQueen from Cars. No word if Perry the Platypus would also be appearing in the area, or if Perry is still busy performing in a Las Vegas stage show with Wayne Newton.
So what do you think? Are you interested in meeting Phineas and Ferb in the parks? Will you be disappointed if you can no longer get your photo taken with Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater? Do you hope Wayne Newton will sing with Perry the Platypus on the Sorcerer’s Hat stage? Leave a comment below with your thoughts.
