The Holidays come to the Walt Disney World Resorts

It’s that time of year when Disney decorates the resorts for the holidays at Walt Disney World.   Many of us look forward yearly to seeing  how the resorts are decorated. This year I was a little disappointed to see that there are fewer decorations than normal.

Touring the resorts at Walt Disney World is easily done using Disney transportation or you can use your personal car.  I used a combination of both.  I parked at the Ticket and Transportation center and took the resort monorail for my first three resorts.  I was very excited to see what decorations they had used this year.

I started at the Polynesian.  In years past there was always something handmade showing the resort.  This year there was none.  The resort did have a photo opportunity next to a tree as you come in from the monorail platform.

I hopped back on the monorail for my next stop at the Grand Floridian.  This resort is home to the handmade Gingerbread House.

The Contemporary was my next stop.  I was disappointed here.  They had a great handmade Pinocchio display here last year.  No such luck this year.

I was so distracted looking for holiday decorations that I tripped over one of the low seating benches, but I did find another photo opportunity!

Next I was off to the Yacht and Beach Club resorts.  I look forward to these displays because they decorate with a nautical theme.  The Beach Club has a handmade carousel made out of chocolate.  The carousel has so many details and is amazing. There are hidden Mickey’s all over the carousel.  I was there during a time where it was turned off and I enjoyed it even more getting to see all the details.

The Yacht Club had their nautical themed tree and a Holiday display.  There is a lot of details but I felt they could have done something more.

My favorite of these resorts was the Beach Club.  The attention to detail was amazing!!  Be sure to stop and see this display.  I will be back next week with the rest of the Walt Disney World Resorts.  What was your favorite display?

The decorations are beautiful….but a little sad to hear that there are fewer decorations put up this year then previous years. But that seems to be status quo right now. Hopefully as the world comes back from this recession..Disney will return to it’s former glory. We can only hope.

    Beautiful pics, Kathy! 🙂

I can’t get over the tail on the horses. That close-up pics makes it look like ribbon, not chocolate. Awesome work!

The Gingerbread house has to be my favorite – the setting is so perfect in the Grand Floridian.

I didn’t realize the gingerbread house was so big! Your photo puts it in perspective.
