The Epcot Food and Wine Festival is one of those yearly events that I look forward to, and just a cursory glance at our forums will tell you that I’m not the only one. Arguably, this is the most popular annual event at Walt Disney World, and this year will be no exception.
As someone who likes to experience Food & Wine multiple times a year (well, the food portion anyway) I’m always excited to hear about anything ‘new’ that’s offered. I was surprised to see that one of the new offerings this year is coming from the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin.
Taking advantage of the fact that they are walking distance from the International Gateway entrance to Epcot, the Swan/Dolphin has decided to introduce its first “Food and Wine Classic” on October 8th and 9th.
The event will feature everything from food samples, wine pairings, seminars and entertainment. Food will be provided by many of the eateries featured at the Swan and Dolphin, including Todd English’s bluezoo, Shula’s Steak House, Il Mulino, Kimonos, and the Cabana Bar and Grill as well as select deserts prepared by the resort’s world famous pastry chef, Laurent Branlard (a two-time World Pastry Champion winner).
Seminars will include a ‘wine blending’ seminar conducted by some of the resorts certified sommeliers, a “Riesling Rendezvous”, a course in “Modern Mixology” among others.
The event will take place from 4:30 pm – 9:30 pm on October 8th and 9th on the causeway connecting the two resorts. Advance purchase tickets are available for $50 and include one seminar and unlimited food and beverage samples. The resort is also offering a special package for $169 per night for a weekend stay that includes two tickets to the event each day. Packages may be booked for either one or two nights.
