If you are at all familiar with the music of the film “Cinderella”, you will recall Ilene Woods’ voice. She played the title role in the 1950’s movie animated film “Cinderella”. Ms. Woods died at the age of 81 from causes related to Alzheimer’s disease. She was 18 when she recorded several demo songs for friends Jerry Livingston and Mack David. When Walt Disney heard them he called Woods and asked her to come for an interview. Woods beat out over 300 people to win the singing role in the movie. She said she learned a valuable lesson from this experience, “Never pass up doing a good deed for friends!” That is a motto we could all live by.
Ilene Woods is also one of the Disney Legends. She was inducted in 2003.
