Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World on the fourth of July has a special magic to it. Main Street USA makes me feel more patriotic than usual. I decided to head over to see how the crowds were since the park is usually packed on the holidays. I made sure to get there early so I wouldn’t have long waits for the rides and attractions.Come along with me while I stroll through the park.
The lines were long for the express monorail to Magic Kingdom. I decided to take the resort monorail and enjoy the ride. Another tip: if you are in the line for the express monorail, stay to the right. That line moves much faster. You could also take the ferry boat.
The lines to enter the park weren’t too bad. There was a wait to go through security. If you are carrying a bag it helps to have all the pockets and compartments open so the security guard doesn’t have to wait for you to do it.
It wasn’t as crowded as usual since the forecast for rain was high. By the time I was leaving the park it was raining pretty hard. Don’t forget to pack the ponchos because you never know when a summer rain might hit.
I always love to stop and watch the stage show in front of Cinderella Castle. I can remember the year that Lee Greenwood performed his very patriotic tune, God Bless the USA up on this stage on the 4th of July.
I decided to take a leisurely boat ride on the Liberty Belle. It’s a great way to see the detail that Disney puts into their parks.
I know a lot have expressed concern on the DISboards about the the work that is going on in the park. Here is some of the work that is being done. I do have to give Disney lots of credit for going to the effort to disguise the rehabs.
Peter Pan’s Flight. They had been working on the front of this attraction.
This is where Ariel’s Grotto used to be.
You can see they are working on installing the tree in front of Winnie the Pooh.
I wanted to spend some time in Mickey’s Toontown Fair. I am sad and excited at the same time for this area of the park. Sad that what is there is either going away or being re-themed. I am excited because I know the new area will be something magical. I finally rode The Barnstormer. I am a roller coaster wimp so I figured I could handle this ride. I wanted to see over the construction wall but was so busy holding on that I missed it.
The skies were threatening so I decided it was time to head for home. I will be back another day. I can’t think of a better place to spend the 4th of July. I am not sure I will be there for the fireworks but they are always spectacular on the holidays!
Here are some the rehabs happening in the Main Street area.
The Plaza Restaurant and Ice Cream Shop.
The Emporium on Main Street.
