A few lucky Disneyland guests have been able to see a new character the resort is testing: a talking Mickey Mouse. At Mickey’s House in Mickey’s Toontown, Mickey Mouse interacted with guests and even called them by name. The new Mickey’s face moves differently than the current characters – his eyes blink and his nose and mouth move when he talks. A Disney spokeswoman confirmed that the talking Mickey is in tests, but wouldn’t give any clues to the future of the Mouse. Disney has released a video showing Mickey interacting with several delighted children.

This is totally awesome!! My 7 y/o son watched it with me and said, “Now that’s the real Mickey. The ones that don’t talk are fake.” I hope we get to meet him next time were there. I love how his eye blink too, really makes him seem real!

Wow, they did an excellent job… it looks and sounds better than I was expecting. I would’ve guessed they’d use recorded phrases, but if Mickey is saying the kids names and responding to what they say, I guess they’re just going to have to choose those with spot-on Mickey impressions.
