A page on the Universal Orlando site (which has now been changed) inadvertently leaked the grand opening date for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure. Here’s what was displayed, before it was taken down:
- Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
On Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey – the marquee attraction of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – guests will journey through iconic locations straight from the films, such as the Room of Requirement. This amazingly detailed scene is where guests board the groundbreaking ride and are drawn into the excitement and chaos of Harry’s life. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – the only place in the world where the stories of Harry Potter will come to life – grand opening on June 18.
The official announcement is scheduled to be made on Universal’s web site on Thursday March 25th at 12:00pm eastern time via webcast. The URL for the webcast is http://www.universalorlando.com/harrypotter
A few weeks ago, Universal started offering packages for Harry Potter with arrivals starting on May 28th. This is not unusual as its common practice to have the ‘official’ grand opening shortly after the actual opening. This allows them to generate buzz prior to holding a major press event to officially launch it.
