Wandering Magic Kingdom on a cool day in January

I went over to see if they had decorated the Magic Kingdom in the Walt Disney World resort for the What will you Celebrate promotion.  We didn’t see any signs that the campaign had changed.  I did see banners from the Year of a Million Dreams still up.

The first thing we noticed is the new cart outside of City Hall. It is a self serve cart with all the different buttons available for the celebration.  It also had Magic Kingdom maps and times guides.

As we walked down Main Street you notice that the crane is up to take down the lights off Cinderella Castle. They have just started. The walkway on the right that takes you behind the castle is closed while the crane is there.

The castle stage is also being refurbished and looked a little bare.

I had heard rumors that there was one place in Magic Kingdom that had the Celebrate decorations up.  It is the Swan Boat station down by the water. Sure enough that was the only place decorated that we saw.

We headed towards Tomorrowland because I had heard they had closed the Galaxy Theatre. In front of the construction wall will be a meet and greet area. They are working there and in front of the old platform for the sky ride.  This is located between Space Mountain and Carousel of Progress. They are building a new stage for the celebrate Galaxy Day with Stitch. They will have a stage show happening several times a day when it is finished.  Several months ago I finally attended a Music event at the Galaxy Theatre.  It was one of those places that I had never visited in all my trips to Magic Kingdom.  They will be moving the music events from Magic Music Days from Magic Kingdom to Downtown Disney and their new stage.

We rode the TTA and enjoyed it as usual.  We were sad that it is going to be closed while they are refurbishing Space Mountain.  That was always a great ride to relax and cool off while touring the park.

One of the things I have always enjoyed about the Disney parks is the attention to detail that they have. I was over at MK last week and saw the Cast Member cleaning the plaque under the Liberty Tree.  Where else would you see someone cleaning like this?

As we turned and walked down Main Street I got to watch one of my very favorite groups.  The Main Street dancers were performing the Trolley Song.  This always gives me the goosebumps and I must have seen it hundreds of times.  This is true Disney magic for me.  One of my fantasies is to be a Main Street dancer for a performance.

We did find some good bargains on clothes in the Emporium so we didn’t leave the park empty handed. The rides were mostly walk ons so we did quite a few.  I love this time of year.  It isn’t hot and the crowds are smaller.  I will be back to enjoy it again and I’ll keep you all updated with more pictures.

Kathy-great pictures! Love the trolley song too! Interesting that the new banners aren’t up yet. That Stitch stage show – they seem to be doing A LOT of construction, don’t they?
