From down in the bayou

Well, last night we took advantage of the Extra Magic Hours at Animal Kingdom for the first time. It was not crowded at all and the weather was cool and crisp (this was our first time at Animal Kingdom when it was not steaming hot). We were able to ride Expedition Everest twice, back to back with our choice of seats (front and back row), and we could have ridden as many times as we wanted. The wait was 5 minutes at the most!

Once we got back to the resort we hung out in the River Roost (the lounge) and saw Bob Jackson’s show – he does a piano singalong comedy routine. This guy has the energy of 10 eight year old children and does not take a break until an hour and a half into his show.  It’s quite lively and extremely entertaining for the whole family with tons of audience participation. The place fills up quick, so get there before the show starts at 8:30pm. He’s been doing this at Port Orleans Riverside since 1997 and you can find his schedule on his website. http://www.yehaabob.com .

Today we basically stayed around Port Orleans and explored some more of what it has to offer. Julie had breakfast in the food court, while I stayed in the room and ate some healthier options that we brought from home, and did some work. It’s definitely not a resort stay until Julie spends time lying out by the pool. I don’t know if it’s because the pool at French Quarter is going through rehab or not, but the Ol’ Man Island pool was very crowded. I went out there to meet her around 11:00am and there were no chairs. I didn’t really go to layout anyway, “ADD Corey” can’t just lie in the sun without doing anything – I have to stay busy. Will joined us shortly after and we took the water taxi to Downtown Disney (just to time the ride) for lunch. We ate at Cap’n Jack’s, which was surprisingly good, and made it back to the resort just before the rain.  We were afraid the Carriage ride we had reserved would be canceled due to the inclement weather, but our driver Laurie met us right on time at the Marina. Afterwards we played in the arcade before going back to see part of Bob Jackson’s show for a second time.

I would have posted photos but this internet connection I am on sucks! I should have just paid the $10 and used the landline in the room, but instead I am dancing with 1 bar on my wireless card. I really do feel like I am in the bayou.

We’ve never seen Bob Jackson’s show – it’s definitely on our “must-do” list for our visit in October!!
